Fly Ash Wet Handling and its transportation: CaO + Water = > Heat and Violent Steaming: How to control?

CFBC Boiler: Type IR / U Beam: Lime Dosing for SOx capture:

Excess Lime in Fly ash (CaO) reacts with water and give exothermic reaction which makes violent Steaming and make truck body excessively hot along with bubbling. This is unsafe condition. How can it be avoided, if Wet fly ash handling is compulsion?

I would rather try to reduce the un-reacted CaO in the fly ash, as this indicates excess and ineffective lime dozing. Are you using powder lime? You are required to use crushed lime with a top size of 1 mm. Obviously, you should also try to increase the SA: PA (by PA, I mean fluidizing air), by reducing the fluidizing air by a small marging and increasing the over bed air by the same margin. Changing the bed content by adding fresh bed material more frequently would not be a bad idea either, as Sulfation reaction is less effective when there is more ash in the bed content. You could actually be surprized with the resulting economics of this practice.
