Chemical additives are available for both solid and liquid fuel with various advantages as claimed by their vendors. If it works as claimed, then it could provide a reasonable solution to fouling while using fuel with high slagging index. But, the advantage of fuel additives has been a debatable topic since long. This is more so, since the manufacturers are not very clear in explaining the technology to protect their patented formulation. Therefore this technology is needed to be explored in details.
